The boat pictured in the header is not CSSS’ new boat, Insidious; but it is a sneak preview of what she will look like. Read on for more details.
insidious
(ɪnˈsɪdɪəs)
adj. a : awaiting a chance to entrap
b : operating or proceeding inconspicuously but with grave effect
c : stealthily, treacherous or deceitful
Any of the above three definitions aptly describe the purpose of our new vessel Insidious. She’s a Hooker Boat’s 8m Pro Fisherman built here in Cairns for our far northern conditions.
Insidious is powered by twin 175HP latest generation Yamaha 4 strokes for quiet and efficient propulsion and boasts a comprehensive array of Simrad electronics, including GPS, chirp sonar, 3D structure scan, radar and sonic hub all displayed on a 16 inch NSS evo 2 screen. We have incorporated a range of customisations throughout the entire cockpit such as custom helm seating including a fitted Waeco upright fridge for cold refreshments and custom rod storage on the console. I will post more updates on these customisations as the build progresses.
I first sat down with John from Hooker boats 11 months ago, for preliminary discussions about building me a fully customised sportfishing platform. Many meetings and many more emails ensued. Consequently John has designed a purpose built vessel enabling us to do what we do in style and safety.
The hull has been in the mould for a good amount of time and is now fully cured. It’s time to start the business end of the build process. I was in at Hooker Boats the other day measuring up an 8m Pro fisherman, so I can get the boat wrap designed when John told me the trailer had been delivered, it’s kind of a chicken or the egg situation I guess. At least I know she’ll have a solid road platform when she’s ready.
